London Irish Director of Rugby Brian Smith will leave the Reading based club to join the senior England coaching team as Attack Coach.
Smith, who has been with London Irish for the past three seasons, led the Exiles to a Heineken Cup semi-final last season narrowly losing out to Toulouse at Twickenham. The former Ireland international will join Martin Johnson, Mike Ford (Defence) and John Wells (Forwards) as part of the England set up.
Confirming the move Smith said: "The opportunity to coach at international level comes along rarely in one's career so I'm looking forward to my new position with England. It's an exciting time to be involved.
I've enjoyed working with the playing and coaching staff and would like to thank all at the club, especially its exceptional supporters, for all the encouragement I've received" he added.
London Irish will now be looking for a new Head Coach to lead them into their Pool 1 in the European Challenge Cup campaign against Connacht, Dax and Rugby Rovigo.
As part of the build-up to next month's Cardiff 2014 Heineken Cup and Amlin Challenge Cup finals weekend, ERC has joined forces with the WRU, Cardiff Blues and adidas to develop an annual grassroots community rugby programme targeting young players.
The Ulster Rugby full back, Jared Payne (No 15), has been suspended for two (2) weeks following an independent Disciplinary Hearing in Dublin arising from the Heineken Cup quarter-final match against Saracens at Ravenhill Stadium on Saturday, 5 April.
