It will be The Borders' third meeting with the Scarlets this season, having played them away in the Celtic League and at home in the Heineken Cup. In early November, at the Wrexham Racecourse, Gilbert's side put in a good performance, though they went down 36-20.
The only change to The Borders team that played Northampton Saints at Netherdale last week is that Campbell Feather drops out of the squad, with Dan Kane stepping up from the bench. Tony Walker replaces Kane on the bench.
"Campbell Feather has been struggling with an ankle injury for the last few weeks," explained Gilbert. "The ankle flairs up after matches and he's unable to train during the week. He's going to have it looked at on Monday and we'll know next week how long he might be out for.
"Gareth Morton is missing for the third week," Gilbert continued. "His shoulder injury is getting better but he still can't take contact. We're also still missing Andy Turnbull, Clark Laidlaw, Calum MacRae, Kelvin Todd and Matt Taylor through injury.
"This game will be another big test for The Borders. Llanelli are full of quality players - we know that because we've played them twice already this season and played quite well at their ground in the Celtic League. Now in the Heineken Cup we have nothing to lose and we're going down there to have a go."
