The South Africain utility back Mathew Turner has signed a two year contract with Bristol.
Turner who can play fullback or wing, will join Bristol at the end of September.
This year he was selected for the SA Under 20 squad for the 2008 IRB U/20 World Cup in Wales.
"Mathew was already attracting interest from other clubs in England so we had to move fast to secure his services.
He's quick and strong and has an excellent try scoring record at whatever level he has played at. He'll provide real competition for the back three places when he arrives at the end of the month." said Bristol head coach Richard Hill.
Bristol will play in Pool 2 of the 2008/09 European Challenge Cup alongside Montpellier, Toulon and another English team Northampton Saints.
The directors of ERC voted unanimously at a Board meeting to postpone all decisions including the release of further instalments of ERC's distributable central revenues to the six shareholder countries until 19 February next when the Board will meet again to reconsider the issue.
