Bath Rugby will be the seventh club to appear in two tournament finals. In 2003 they were beaten 48-30 by London Wasps in Reading. In addition to ASM Clermont Auvergne, the others to appear in two finals are Bourgoin, Castres Olympique, NEC Harlequins, Sale Sharks and Pau.
The 2007 final will be the 838th tournament match.
Two clubs have won the European Challenge Cup twice - NEC Harlequins in 2001 and 2004 and Sale Sharks in 2002 and 2005.
ASM Clermont became only the fifth club to play in 50 tournament matches when they beat Newcastle Falcons 24-19 in the quarters-finals. The final will be their 78th match in Europe (52 in the European Challenge Cup and 26 in the Heineken Cup) while it will be Bath Rugby's 73rd match in Europe (26 in the European Challenge Cup and 47 in the Heineken Cup).
The first four tournament finals were all French affairs won by Bourgoin, Colomiers, Montferrand (now ASM Clermont Auvergne) and Pau. Since then there have been just three French finalists.
The last six European Challenge Cup finals have been won by English clubs. This is the fourth Anglo-French final with the previous three being won by the English clubs.
The only team not from England or France to play in a tournament final so far was Welsh club Pontypridd, who were beaten 25-22 by Sale Sharks in 2002.
The European Challenge Cup record attendance is the 31,986 who were at Stade Gerland, Lyon, in 1999 to see Montferrand - who included current Bath Rugby wing David Bory - beat Bourgoin 35-16. Bory played 44 European matches for Montferrand and has appeared in nine for Bath Rugby.
Two European Challenge Cup finals have needed extra time to produce a winner - NEC Harlequins finally beating Narbonne in Reading in 2001 and Gloucester Rugby overcoming London Irish 36-34 at Twickenham Stoop last season.
The biggest win in a final was Colomiers' 43-5 triumph over Agen in 1998. The seven tries Colomiers scored in that final are also a tournament record.
The most points (78) and tries (nine) scored in a match came in the 2003 final when London Wasps beat Bath Rugby 48-30.
