French champions Stade Francaus have a chance of claiming the fourth and last home quarter-final berth if results go their way in Round 6...
Stade Francais are likely to miss out on a home quarter-final in the Heineken Cup after drawing 22-22 at the Ospreys and will take out their frustrations on Calvisano this weekend.
That is the verdict of lock Boela Du Blooy, whose sin binning at the Liberty Stadium helped turn the game in favour of the Ospreys. "I only made one mistake in the whole game and I got punished for it," he admitted.
..The French champions have a chance of claiming the fourth and last home quarter-final berth if results go their way, but first they have to beat the Italians to confirm their position at the top of Pool 3.
"Now if we qualify for the quarter-finals I don't think we will play at home which was our main objective. It is a difficult competition so playing at home is everything," said Du Blooy.
"Definitely we will be going for a bonus point against Calvisano, we will be going full out for that - that will be our objective for next weekend."
Du Blooy also had some advice for the Ospreys on how they can still join the French champions in the quarter-final draw. Assuming Stade win at home to Calvisano, the Ospreys need to win at Sale - preferably with a bonus point - to have a chance.
"I think the Ospreys are the best team for going through," said the lock.
"Sale are difficult because they have a very good defence which is hard to get through. You have to get behind the wall of Sale, but the Ospreys have ball playing out of hand and good runners.
"In the first game they kept the ball for long periods and that is how you can break down that wall of defence and win."
The directors of ERC voted unanimously at a Board meeting to postpone all decisions including the release of further instalments of ERC's distributable central revenues to the six shareholder countries until 19 February next when the Board will meet again to reconsider the issue.
