Haskell, who has returned to Wasps this season following spells in Japan and New Zealand, was resigned to losing the medal forever, but was stunned just 24 hours later when the Chronicle contacted his management company with news that Larry Donaghey had stumbled across the medal when walking his dog in the Fulham area.
"I'm really grateful to Larry for getting it back to me," said the 6ft 4ins back row. "It's never nice to get anything stolen but something as precious as this was hard to take, especially as I'll probably never again get to play a final for Stade Francais. It means an awful lot to me."
London Wasps, who won the tournament in 2003, kick off this season's Amlin Challenge Cup with a Pool 3 game against Newport Gwent Dragons at Adams Park on Saturday, 13 October.
