"I always like playing against Perpignan and it will be amazing to play in front of so many people and it's already such a huge game with a semi-final at stake," said Van Niekerk.
"I'm very excited but I must stay calm. I have to keep everything for the day of the match but it's hard to contain myself.
"It's important that we don't let the occasion get to us, that we continue training in a calm and precise way.
"I'll leave Philippe (Saint-Andre) to do the talking. Once we have put the hard work in place then I'll have my say."
Van Niekerk is all too aware of the threat the Catalan giants pose and has emphasised the importance of the Toulon pack fronting up as they strive for a place in the last four.
"The Catalans will be going crazy at the beginning of the match," added Van Niekerk.
"The first twenty minutes will be very important because Perpignan will want to attack and make a good start.
"The USAP pack is very powerful and it will be a lot easier if we do the work up front.
"Every guy needs to do his job. Every clear-out at the breakdown, every jump, every race must be perfect. If we can do that it will be a good day for us."
