Leigh Halfpenny kicked 11 points after Rhys Patchell's early, 60 metre effort, to steer the Blues to overcome a team that had opened with a ful house of points against PRO12 leaders Glasgow Warrirors last weekend. Jonny Wilkinson kicked all their points with five penalties.
"This was an important win for many reasons but the result was all down to the players. We always felt we were going in the right direction and making progress but the players fronted up and got a great victory over a great team," said Davies
"Physically and emotionally they had to go up to another level and that's what they did. The result proved once again that champions Toulon will have their work cut out to qualify from a highly competitive Pool 2.
"The group is wide open now. We're definitely back in it and that bonus point we picked up at Exeter in the opening round is not looking too bad now."
