The Leicester Tigers player, Micky Young (No 9), has been suspended for eight (8) weeks following a Disciplinary Hearing in Dublin today, Friday, 27 January 2012, as a result of the citing complaint made against him arising from the Heineken Cup Round 6 match against Aironi Rugby on Saturday, 21 January 2012.

The Benetton Treviso player, Antonio Pavanello (No 4), has been suspended for two (2) weeks following a Disciplinary Hearing today, Friday, 27 January 2012, as a result of the citing complaint made against him arising from the Heineken Cup Round 6 match against Saracens on Sunday, 22 January 2012.

Edinburgh Rugby have strengthen their front row options ahead of the biggest game of their history, with the signing of former Argentina prop Ulises Gamboa.

England has six automatic Heineken Cup places each season. They have the possibility of a seventh if English clubs win the Heineken Cup or the Amlin Challenge Cup.

Qualification for the Heineken Cup 2010/11 was based on results from the 2009/10 season:

- Heineken Cup Winner (if an AVIVA Premiership Rugby club)
- AVIVA Premiership Rugby first place
- AVIVA Premiership Rugby second placed
- AVIVA Premiership Rugby third placed
- AVIVA Premiership Rugby fourth placed
- AVIVA Premiership Rugby fifth placed
