Calvisano wing Nicola Cattina has been suspened for three weeks following a REd Card in the Round 3 Pool 6 Heineken Cup match against Glouxcester
An independent Disciplinary Committee convened in Dublin on Thursday, 11 December, 2008 to consider if any further action was required following the sending-off of Nicola Cattina, the Rugby Calvisano replacement wing forward (No 19), in the Heineken Cup Round 3 Pool 6 match against Gloucester Rugby at Centro Sportivo San Michele on Saturday, 6 December, 2008.
The player was sent off by Welsh referee James Jones in the 55th minute for punching Gloucester flanker Alasdair Strokosch (No 7).
The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Roger Morris (Wales) and also comprised Dr Barry O'Driscoll (Ireland) and Robert Williams (Wales).
After considering the evidence available, the independent Disciplinary Committee determined that the offence was of the mid-range in the level of seriousness. Having taken into account any mitigating and aggravating factors the Committee suspended Mr. Cattina for a period of three (3) weeks, from the date of the match Saturday, 6 December, 2008 up to and including Sunday, 28 December 2008.
