The Scarlets face a worrying wait to discover whether or not skipper Rob McCusker and centre Gareth Owen will be available for their final two Heineken Cup Pool 5 fixtures in the New Year.
Both players were sent-off by international referee Nigel Owens in the PRO12 Welsh derby match against the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Boxing Day, which the home side won by a resounding 32-3.
Both dismissals came in the final five minutes and left the Scarlets reduced to 12 men with a third player still in the sin-bin. Altogether, Owens issued three yellow and two red cards to Scarlets players.
McCusker, who came on as a second half replacement, saw red for his part in a general free-for-all among the forwards, while Owen was sent-off for taking out Rhys Webb in the air. The two players will go before a PRO12 disciplinary panel to determine how long they will be on the sidelines.
The Scarlets, who have yet to win a game in Pool 5, have to travel to Dublin to face Leinster in Round 5 on 13 January before finishing their campaign with a home clash against unbeaten Pool leaders ASM Clermont Auvergne.
