Gloucester Rugby are one regulation win away from qualifying for the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals - but head coach Nigel Davies insists a home tie in the last eight has to be the ultimate target when the tournament resumes in the New Year.
A commanding 47-3 home victory over Premiership and Pool 1 rivals London Irish has swept Gloucester seven points clear at the top with ties at Bordeaux-Begles and then home to Mont de Marsan to come next month.
"The key thing as far as Europe goes is we've got to target not just a quarter-final spot - but a home quarter-final spot," said Davies.
"It would be a huge occasion and it would be great if we could do that. We have still got a couple of games to make sure we nail in order to do that."
"Yes things are going fairly well - but those things can be taken away from you very quickly indeed. I am aware of that now, and we're gong to fight for every little inch.
"I'm very pleased with the result and pleased with elements of the performance, we've got to take that. That's a huge result, a huge statement and it maintains the momentum we've got going.
"So all those things are very positive, but as far as we're concerned the game is done now, we've done what we had to do and we've got to get heads on for Monday.
"The process of expanding our game has gone very well - we haven't seen the best of us yet that's for sure, there's a long way to go with this side."
