Gloucester and London Irish go head-to-head in decisive Pool 1 matches over the next two weekends with group leaders London Irish one point ahead and enjoying home advantage at the Madejski Stadium in Round 3.
Both clubs have beaten French challengers Mont de Marsan and Bordeaux-Begles with Pool honours and quarter-final qualification looking to be heading into an English duel.
And Gloucester's powerful Tongan loose forward Sione Kalamafoni believes the double-header is the perfect opportunity to build up some real momentum.
"Obviously we want to move as far forward in each competition as possible, so there's plenty of motivation for victory in the Amlin Challenge Cup in the next fortnight," said the 24-year-old.
"These games are also great chances to progress our game plan and sharpen up a host of things.
"We need to realise those opportunities that have been given to us and take it with two hands but every game is an opportunity to move things forward and to progress what we're doing as a team.
"And that means every competition and every situation, not just the so-called big games.
"So every time we take the field we've got an opportunity to move our game to that next level, and we've got to take these chances."
And full back Rob Cook added: "We should hopefully get a good run at this European situation now, we've got to go hard and push ourselves forward.
"This fortnight will clearly define progress or otherwise in this competition. But it can also give us a great deal of momentum and confidence if we can come out of the two weeks in credit."
