London Wasps have won only once on the road this season - at Amlin Challenge Cup newcomers Rugby Mogliano - and they will need to double that tally of away wins when they take on Bayonne on Saturday.
That contest will be the first of their key Pool 3 clashes with the French club that will go a long way to deciding the group winner and knock-out stages qualification.
Wasps head the Pool a point ahead of Bayonne but the Premiership club's Director of Rugby Dai Young knows they must come up with the goods away from Adams Park if they are to stay in control of the group.
"I don't think we've played outstandingly at home and really poor away," said Young.
"We are nowhere near playing as well as we can play."
Now the challenge for Wasps is take their home form into Europe with the head-to-head scrum half battle between Joe Simpson and Mike Phillips sure to be at the heart of matters.
England international Simpson was one of the Wasps yellow carded in the 30-23 defeat at Exeter Chiefs last weekend and Young will demand an improvement in discipline against the Top 14 team.
"To be honest we were a bit lucky to come away with a losing bonus point," said Young.
"The big decisive factor was our two yellow cards. No complaints from me, they were yellow cards. We had 17 points scored against us when we were down to 14. In the end that proved to be the difference."
