Last season's Heineken Cup semi-finalists Edinburgh will be full of confidence when they head to France this week for their Pool 1 clash with Racing Metro having finally ended a nightmare run of seven successive defeats.
Back-to-back wins in the RaboDirect PRO12 over the reigning champions Ospreys and Connacht have given Michael Bradley's team a timely boost ahead of their return to European action this weekend.
A 23-13 home win over the Ospreys stopped the rot and was followed last weekend with a 25-24 win in Galway over Bradley's former charges, Connacht. An early try by Scotland wing Tim Visser, his 10th of the season, set-up a first away win of the season.
Edinburgh beat Racing Metro twice last season on their way to the semi-finals, 48-47 at home and 27-24, and two more successes would at least move them off the bottom of the Pool table.
"We badly needed a win for our confidence and the forwards went very well against the Ospreys. We had five players coming back from international duty in Connacht last weekend and it was vital that we built on the momentum of the Ospreys game," admitted Bradley.
"Connacht is always a desperately difficult place to go and get a win, and the players should be very proud of themselves for doing that, but we need to stop making it so difficult in the future. It was a very tight game and we're very happy to have got over the line and make it two wins in a row."
Edinburgh's first task on Saturday will be to notch their first points of the European season. They were thumped 45-0 by Saracens in their opening game at Murrayfield and then lost 33-0 in Munster in Round 2.
