Exeter Chiefs are still waiting to celebrate their debut Heineken Cup campaign with a victory but they travel to Wales for Saturday's Pool 5 showdown with the Scarlets with head coach Rob Baxter warning the Scarlets his Chiefs are closing in on hitting top form.
The Chiefs are riding high in the top five of the Premiership - their win over London Wasps their sixth of this season's tournament - but success in European club rugby's premier competition has eluded them.
But tries from Chris Whitehead, Haydn Thomas and Phil Dollman, as well as 15 points from the boot of leading points-scorer Gareth Steenson, have put the Chiefs on a high ahead of their double header with the Scarlets, starting at Parc y Scarlets.
"I'm delighted with the result and I'm also pleased that we are ticking along well," said Baxter.
"I've said to the guys, I still don't think we've hit top form yet because we have actually performed a bit better at home than we did this time but I can also see there is still a bit in the tank for us."
"Being honest, we looked more of an attacking threat than we converted in the end. And it was just really nice to see a bit of variety in our play, we even scored tries through the forwards.
"Normally we tend to chuck it around a bit, play multi-phase rugby and tries come from that with the backs running them in, but I thought our forwards really had a good bit of grind about them and ultimately that was the biggest difference in the two teams."
