Bath Rugby, the 2008 Amlin Challenge Cup champions, have signed Western Province back row forward Nick Koster.
The Premiership club, who face Italian club Cammi Rugby Calvisano in the back-to-back Pool 4 matches coming up, lead the group on 10 points after claiming maximum points against Bucharest Wolves and Agen in October's opening rounds.
Koster has turned out for the Western Province since 2008 and made his Super Rugby bow for the Stormers in 2009.
Koster, who has played on the wing in the past, can cover both flanker and No.8 and follows in the footsteps of current Bath back row forward Francois Louw who signed for the West Country side from the Stormers.
Bath boss Gary Gold was delighted to announce the capture of Koster saying: "Nick is a very exciting young player and we are delighted that he has agreed to move to Bath. He is a hard-working, incredibly motivated guy, and we are sure he will fit in with the club ethos we are developing.
"We have a very talented and competitive back row at present, and Nick knows he will have to fight for his place, but he is up for the challenge and we can't wait to see the results."
And Gold went on to hint that Koster's transfer from the Western Province to Bath may signify the start of a link-up between the two sides.
Gold added: "We'd like to thank Western Province for their co-operation in allowing Nick to join us, and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them. Hopefully it will allow players to potentially spend time with the other club as and when the opportunity should arise."
