Worcester Warriors romped home with an 85-5 victory over newcomers Bizkaia Gernika, earning themselves a new club record after putting a massive 13 tries past the Spanish champions, and Perpignan ran riot at the Stadio Mario Battaglini.
Max Stelling hit the headlines with a six minute hat-trick late in the game, though the 2008 finalists had the match well and truly wrapped up almost as early as the half time whistle, heading down the tunnel with a 45-0 lead.
A Bizkaia Gernika onslaught never materialised, though a single try was their only consolation. Tougher times lay ahead for the English side, with Perpignan lying in wait with back-to-back matches over weeks 3 and 4.
Perpignan themselves showed their class as they put 79 points on Rovigo's 12, earning a bonus-point win. Armand Batlle crossed the line twice in the first half, to go aloing with Adrien Plante's 37th minute try to secure a 15-point lead at the turn around.
Rovigo never looked like recovering as a further seven secon-half tries put the game to bed. David Mele had a good day at the office, kicking nine conversions and two penalty tries.
