ASM Clermont Auvergne head coach Vern Cotter has warned his team to expect a huge challenge against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park on Saturday - and not to bask in their 49-16 bonus point win over the Scarlets in Round 1.
Cotter was impressed by the Scarlets prior to the game-changing red card for Morgan Stoddart and admits his side were caught cold by the Welsh region's red-hot start.
But he was delighted to secure a victory in the Heineken Cup opener ahead of a tricky trip to Devon.
"It is a great start, but we know how tough it is going to be in Exeter next week," he said. "We are under no illusion that this Pool is as tough as tough can be. To qualify is going to take a major effort and major concentration.
"The Scarlets played to their strengths and had us in difficulty. We probably didn't get things right and had to claw our way back into it.
"They have strengthened up front and they vary their play well. Our defence got bigger as the game went and it didn't help them that they got a player sent off.
"We were under the gun in that first half and to come away with a bonus point was pleasing after the way the game started."
The Scarlets now have it all to do when they take on champions Leinster at Parc y Scacrlets, coach Sion Easterby admitting: "Next week is a must win game. If you lose your first in Europe, you have to win your second.
"We took a bit of a beating which will be tough to take. The players in there to a man are bitterly disappointed, but this group is still very much alive and we are very much alive in it."
Meanwhile Saracens blitzed Edinburgh Rugby 45-0 at Murrayfield to lay down a clear Pool 1 marker with Director of Rugby Mark McCall declaring: "In the Heineken Cup a win is vital in the opening game but to get the extra point was a real bonus.
"Edinburgh are a difficult side to play against and it was a huge credit to our boys that they were shut out in the game."
