Daniel Halangahu, who won 75 Super Rugby caps for the Waratahs, has joined Zebre as a utility back ahead of 2012/13 season.
Halangahu played for the Waratahs since 2005, skippering the team four times in 2012 and becoming one of the 10 highest scorers in the club's history.
The 28-year-old represented his country at schools level and then he played for Australia U21, Australia 7s and Australia A in the 2008 Pacific Nations Cup.
During his seven years with Waratahs he played the most of his rugby as a out half, but he can play as inside centre and full back.
"There's no doubt Daniel is a high-level player, we're enthusiastic that he's joining ahead of our first season in RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup. We were looking for an utility back who can bring quality and experience to our backline and who can play in many key positions: Daniel is the right man and we're confident that his Super Rugby experience will help in developing our many young Italian backs," said Zebre's Director of Rugby Roberto Manghi.
