Leinster Rugby back row, Sean O'Brien, is likely to miss the start of next season's Heineken Cup campaign.
The ERC European Player of the Year 2011 who played a starring role in Leinster's back-to-back Heineken Cup titles has a hip injury which requires surgery and could also miss Ireland's autumn internationals, according to reports.
Ireland Team Manager, Mick Kearney, said that O'Brien would be going for corrective surgery. "Like any operation there is some risk attached to it but the medics feel he will make a full recovery and that he will certainly be back towards the end of October and he should be back playing Heineken Cup rounds three and four in December," Kearney added.
