It's down to the wire now for the five contenders who have been shortlisted for the ultimate individual accolade in northern hemisphere rugby, ERC European Player of the Year 2013.

There was even less let up for new boy Rees who has been embroiled in international action for the past fortnight as part of the all-star Barbarians side that faced Ireland and his native Wales, for whom he earned nine test caps.
Rees said: "It's good to get here. I arrived after the Wales game and went straight into pre-season. We've started relatively early, but it's good to get the hard work in and lay a solid platform on which to build throughout the season.
"Last year Edinburgh Rugby had some big performances in the Heineken Cup and our aim is to bring that form into the RaboDirect PRO12 and compete in the both fronts, constantly challenging ourselves as individuals and as a side."
