Steffon Armitage could be enjoying a double celebration this Friday as he looks to add Amlin Challenge Cup glory to an impressive personal accolade.
Armitage is expected to start the European showdown with Biarritz Olympique at the Twickenham Stoop as his Toulon team go in search of a first continental trophy.
And if the English openside can help guide RCT to a famous success over their French rivals it would cap a wonderful week for the 26-year-old.
Armitage, who joined Toulon from London Irish last summer, has been named the Top 14's Player of the Season by famous French rugby newspaper Midi Olimpique.
He saw off the challenge of fellow back rowers Chris Masoe of Castres and Gerhard Vosloo of ASM Clermont Auvergne to pick up the much sought-after award.
Armitage has been in outstanding form in the French Championship and has also been a key figure in Toulon's charge to a second Amlin Challenge Cup Final in three seasons.
The five-times capped England star, who was a Heineken Cup semi-finalist with his previous club back in 2008, has featured in six of Toulon's eight tournament fixtures so far, including the quarter-final thrashing of Harlequins and the semi-final win over Stade Francais.
Armitage has scored tries in each of the knockout-stage wins at the Stade Felix Mayol and was named Amlin Man of the Match when Toulon knocked out holders Harlequins last month.
