ASM Clermont Auvergne's Heineken Cup quarter-final hero Brock James was bang on target again for his side as he kicked 20 points in an impressive 25-9 home victory over Stade Francais Paris in the Top 14.
Even though head coach Vern Cotter only retained one of his starting line-up from the team that beat Saracens in Watford the previous weekend, the home side had far too much strength in depth for the visitors.
The result avenged their heavy defeat in Paris earlier in the season and maintained their unbeaten home run this season at Stade Marcel Michelin.
James was a third minute replacement for David Skrela at Vicarage Road and ended up the hero as he kicked 17 points in a 22-3 victory that booked the centenary celebrating club a ticket to their first Heineken Cup semi-final.
Their latest Top 14 triumph, coupled with a 25-10 defeat for reigning champions and table-toppers Toulouse in Perpignan, allowed them to go level at the top. Cotter stated after the win at Saracens that he thought it was impossible to do a league and Heineken Cup double, but now he might be having second thoughts.
