In the wake of the Blues statement, Henson issued his own public apology.
"I would like to publicly apologise for drinking on that flight. I admit I had been out drinking in Glasgow on the Friday night following our game against Glasgow Warriors and had stupidly carried on drinking on the flight, for which I am truly embarrassed about," admitted Henson.
"I can see that drinking and behaving inappropriately on that flight as a professional sportsman at 7.00am has caused offence to members of the public, the Flybe Airline staff and passengers.
"I know that I have let my team mates, coaches, management, sponsors and indeed my family down with my actions. Drinking on that plane was inexcusable and I know that I must take responsibility for it.
"I also accept that in the light of this I need to learn from it and ensure this does not happen again. I am prepared to co operate 100% with the Cardiff Blues wishes and will do everything that I need to do in order to make amends and enable the Blues to focus on our biggest game of the season next weekend.
"I remain fully focused and committed to Cardiff Blues and I hope they can accept my apology."
The Blues travel to Dublin next weekend to meet reigning Heineken Cup champions Leinster Rugby in this season's quarter-finals at the Aviva Stadium and are already without Wales Grand Slam skipper Sam Warburton for that game. Wales centre
Jamie Roberts is due to see a knee specialist on Monday after limping out of Friday night's defeat, so losing Henson for that game would be another huge blow if any suspension lasts that long.
It is not the first time the 30-year-old Henson has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons. In April 2011, he was suspended for two weeks by the Toulon management following an incident on a night out after a match against Toulouse, involving an alleged fight with his team-mates.
Henson joined the Blues on an eight month contract in October 2011, but has failed to become a regular fixture in their side. The game in Glasgow was only his eighth appearance, and his second as a replacement.
As well as deciding what punishment to give him for his latest offence, the Blues management team are also considering whether or not to offer him a new contract for next season.
