"Everybody knows that Clermont are strong at home, but we're confident that we can bring that strength with us on the road," says Hines. "It's a mental thing, and I'm pretty sure in a game of the stature of a Heineken Cup quarter-final, we won't need any motivation.
"Our objective at Clermont was to get out of the pool and now we know that Saracens is going to be a big challenge. They're really effective in what they do, and a major game away from home can be difficult for some French teams, but we've dealt with that aspect pretty well. All we're worried about is just winning at Vicarage Road, and then we'll see what happens after that.
"Obviously we've got Leinster or Cardiff in the semi-finals if we get through, and already people have asked me about the prospect of playing against my old club Leinster, but at the moment, I'm just worried about playing against Saracens."
Clermont, who celebrate their centenary this season, are aiming to reach the Heineken Cup semi-finals for the first time, while Saracens are flying the flag for England in the knockout stages.
With all roads leading to Twickenham for this season's final on Saturday, 19 May (kick-off: 5.00pm), it won't be lost on Sarries that on the three occasions that European club rugby's showpiece match has been staged at the RFU's headquarters, English clubs have been victorious.
