It has been confirmed that Munster Rugby Head Coach, Tony McGahan, is to leave the two-time Heineken Cup champions at the end of the season.
Whlile as yet there has been no formal announcement regarding his future when he departs Miunster, it has been suggested in a range of media that the Queenslander is considering an offer to take up the role of defence coach with Robbie Deans's Australia.
McGahan was defence coach when Munster won the Heineken Cup in 2006 and 2008 before taking over the top job from Declan Kidney. This season he has guided his squad to an impressive six wins out of six the pool stage to set up an intriguing all-Irish quarter-final against Ulster at Thomond Park on Sunday, 8 April.
All indications are that the quarter-final will be yet another sell-out at the iconic Limerick venue with the winners assured of home country advantage in the semi-final against the winners of the Edinburgh Rugby v Toulouse game.
