The Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals have a strong Anglo-French flavour this season with Stade Francais Paris, Brive, Toulon, Biarritz Olympique, London Wasps, Exeter Chiefs and Harlequins making up seven of the last eight places. Scarlets, meanwhile, have also booked a place as Wales' representative.
The Welsh club, Biarritz and Harlequins are the three Heineken Cup Pool runners-up who have qualified for the knock-out stages of the Amlin Challenge Cup, with defending champions Harlequins travelling to Toulon, and Biarritz going in the opposite direction to meet London Wasps.
Stade Français Paris - last season's finalists - Brive, Toulon and 2003 champions Wasps were the four Pool winners to clinch home advantage while Exeter Chiefs marked only their second season in European club rugby with a place in the last eight and a trip to Paris.
The growth in both status and popularity of the tournament is reflected by the 273,167 spectators who attended the Pool matches in this season's tournament. That figure represents a significant 17% increase on the 2010/11 total of 233,598.
ERC, the tournament organisers, will announce the dates, venues and kick-off times for the Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-finals on Thursday.
