Edinburgh Rugby's Phil Godman became the latest player to demonstrate the power of the drop goal when he snatched victory at the death for his side at Stade Yves du Manoir, Colombes.
His inspired 80th minute shot against Racing Metro 92 earned the Scottish side a vital four points to make it neck and neck with Cardiff Blues in Pool 2 going into the final round this weekend.
Godman's strike was the third match-winning drop goal in the 80th+ minute this season following on from Munster's Ronan O'Gara against Northampton saints in Round 1 and Castres Olympique in Round 2.
But even though Edinburgh currently sit at the top fo Pool 2, anything can still happen on Sunday when they host London Irish and second placed Cardiff Blues entertain Racing Metro 92.
"We've put ourselves in a great position to progress to the last eight in front of our home support. It's fantastic to be here, but we're not taking anything for granted," said Godman.
"We've a big week ahead of us to ensure we're prepared for another huge challenge. Sunday will be a massive day for Edinburgh Rugby and we're encouraging all fans of rugby in Scotland to come along and help us earn our place among Europe's elite."
Edinburgh have won both home games to date this season and the aim for Godman and co is to not only qualify for the last eight, but also to break the club's Heineken Cup attendance of 7,711 against London Wasps at Murrayfield in 2008.
Only last month Edinburgh stretched the Scottish RaboDirect PRO12 attendance record when 13,246 fans turned out at Murrayfield for the 1872 Cup derby match against Glasgow Warriors. Their new touchline terrace on the running track has proved a big hit for fans this season and the atmosphere at the home of Scottish rugby will be fantastic this weekend.
Two teams could qualify from Pool 2 if Edinburgh and Cardiff Blues both win. The Blues have the advantage of knowing that if they match Edinburgh's match points in Round 6 they will win the Pool on the head-to-head ruling from their two meetings.
"If ever there was a time to come and try out a professional rugby game or introduce a friend to Edinburgh Rugby, it's this Sunday," added Godman.
"With student tickets cut to a fiver and a special offer for groups of U18s [adult free with every eight U18s], we hope to smash our Heineken Cup record for what is arguably the club's most important match in almost a decade."
