London Wasps director of rugby Dai Young was pleased with his side's character after they picked up a bonus-point victory against Femi-CZ Rovigo in the Amlin Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The victory keeps Wasps in control of Pool 3 going into the final round, sitting two points ahead of Bayonne.
Young's side host Bordeaux-Begles at Adams Park in the round 6 next Saturday and Young was happy to see his side continue their run in Europe.
"We would have settled for five points before the game and it didn't look like it would happen 10 minutes from time so I am pleased with the character the boys showed," said Young.
"It was backs against the wall stuff there at the end to get the five points and as things haven't been going our way over the last few weeks we showed some pretty good spirit.
"However I was frustrated that we found ourselves in that position in the first place. We had numerous opportunities to kill the game off and our ball retention let us down and we handed it back to them far too often which kept them in the game for so long."
"Bordeaux aren't coming over to do anything other than win next weekend
"They will still be able to put out a quality side and I believe we have to play much better than we did tonight but there is nothing like winning to give you a bit of confidence."
