Amlin Challenge Cup round-up

Stade Francais continued their unbeaten run in the Amlin Challenge Cup and hopes for a place in the last eight as they grabbed an away victory in Romania.

The French side left it late to wrap up the bonus-point but they did cross for four tries, two of which came from Djibril Camara.

But it was the hosts who stormed into an early lead, flanker Alexandru Mitu crossing after 13 minutes to give the Romanian's the lead.

Jules Plisson opened Stade's account with a penalty and he was soon lining up another shot at goal as he converted Camara's first try for last season's Amlin Challenge Cup runners-up.

Florian Vlaicu slotted a penalty for Bucharest but it was the visitors who had the last word of the half, Morgan Turinui grabbing a second try.

Stade kicked ten un-answered points at the start of the second period, with Camara grabbing his second try and Plisson adding with to that with five from the boot.

Lucaci scored an unconverted try with seven minutes to go to give the hosts hope but Stade claimed their fourth and bonus-point score in the 80^th minute with replacement Alexander Rokobaro touching down.

Pool 4
I Cavalieri Prato 10-50 Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs kept alive their hopes of a first ever Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final as they ran in seven tries against I Cavalieri Prato.

Kevin Barrett, Mark Foster, Alastair Muldowney, Pat Phibbs and Ignacio Mieres all crossed in the rout at Stadio Lungobisenzio.

The victory paved the way for a winner-takes-all clash against Perpignan at Sandy Park next Saturday.

The visitors pack provided a platform for the victory and they won their side an early penalty try after a series of powerful scrums.

Scrum-half Barrett then touched down for the English side before the break.

After the interval Foster grabbed his try before another penalty try sealed the bonus-point.

Prato hit back through flanker Nicola Belardo but normal service was soon resumed with Muldowney and Phibbs adding their names to the score-sheet.

Mieres then rounded off the scoring with the last attack of the game.

Worcester Warriors 55-10 Banca Monte Crociati

Worcester Warriors kept their hopes of a quarter-final spot alive with a 55-10 victory over Italian side Banca Monte Crociati at Sixways.

The Warriors travel to Stade Francais in their final pool game, needing a victory to clinch a place in the last eight and this win will send them into Round 6 full of confidence.

The hosts got off to the ideal start with full-back Errie Claassens crossing for the first of nine Worcester tries.

Former England fly-half Andy Goode added the conversion and also kicked the extras to Alex Grove's try and a five-pointer of his own.

Claassens grabbed his second just before the break as Worcester went into the interval 26-0 ahead.

The second period was only two minutes old when Tom Arscott got on the score sheet and he was followed over the line by Josh Drauniniu.

The visitors got off the mark with a penalty try which Jacopo Zucconi converted and the scrum-half later kicked a further penalty.

Ollie Hayes, Ben Gulliver and Miles Benjamin all touched down before the end to send Worcester past the fifty mark.

Pool 3
Femi CZ Rovigo 11 - 32 London Wasps

London Wasps were made to work for their victory over Femi CZ Rovigo in northern Italy, but the former Champions secured a late bonus point to keep them at the helm of Pool 3.

Rovigo fly-half Davide Duca opened with a penalty after 11 minutes but the lead was short lived as Sam Jones crossed for the game's first try just two minutes.

Duca again edged his side in front only for them to be pegged back one again as Elliot Daly grabbed Wasps' second try. Ryan Davies added the extras for the visitors as they went into the break 12-6 ahead.

Rovigo wing Samuele Pace narrowed the deficit to just a point with an early second-half try but from that point on it was all Wasps as they scored 20 un-answered points.

Davis added to his tally with two penalties before grabbing a try of his own with three minutes remaining.

Richard Haughton wrapped up the bonus-point just before the final whistle to send Wasps into Round 6 at the helm of Pool 3.

Pool 5
CR La Vila 69-10 Sale Sharks

Sale Sharks set-up a winner takes all tie against Brive at Edgeley Park on Thursday with a convincing 69-10 victory over La Vila.

Brive top Pool 5 after four rounds of action but the Sharks are just three behind and host their French opponents in Stockport in Round 6.

Tom Brady, Richie Vernon both scored a brace for the visitors as did Rob Miller who finished with a 22-point haul.

Brady opened the scoring after ten minutes and his try was quickly followed by one from Joaquin Tuculet.

Nic McCashin kicked a penalty back for La Vila just before Joe Ward had scored Sale's third try.

Tim Evans crossed after 34 minutes for La Vila's only try but before the break the Sharks ran in two more tries courtesy of Miller and Vernon.

After the break Will Cliff and Miller scored early tries and Brady then rounded off his brace.

Scott Mathiew grabbed a try for himself before Vernon and then Jordan Davies touched down.

Pool 4
Perpignan 27-13 Newport Gwent Dragons

Perpignan closed the gap on Pool 4 leaders Exeter to a single point after their 27-13 victory over the Newport Gwent Dragons.

The win sets up a crunch tie between the two sides at Sandy Park next Saturday where the winner of the game will progress through to the knock-out stage of this year's competition.

The hosts got off to ideal start, with the game less than a minute old full-back Jerome Porical slotted his first penalty of the evening.

This was soon followed by two more in quick succession before the Dragons had registered their first points. Those came through the boot of Matthew Jones after 16 minutes.

Porical kicked six more first half points to give his side a 15-3 advantage at the break.

The Dragons started the second period in style with Wales wing Aled Brew touching down after two minutes. Jones added the extras to bring the Welsh region right back into contention.

The visitors lost Robert Sidoli to the sin-bin and then conceded their first try as hooker Charles Geli scored with Porical adding the extras.

In a fierce battle at Stade Aimé Giral the hosts lost replacement duo Armand Battle and Robins Tchale-Watchou to the sin-bin at the same time for two dangerous tackles. Jones kicked over three points for the Dragons but that was all they could manage against the 13-men French side.

Tchale-Watchou returned to score a late try for Perpignan, the result of a powerful forward effort.
