Outside half Lionel Beauxis helped himself to 79 points in three games as Toulouse crushed Montpellier 45-25, Bayonne 30-15 and Lyon 51-10 ahead of their return to European action. He notched 16 penalties, 8 conversions and 5 drop goals.
Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints also made it a hat-trick of wins to pick up 13 points, the Saints notably beating the Aviva Premiership leaders Harlequins 24-3 at home to help cut the gap at the top to three points.
A Premiership record crowd of 82,000 at Twickenham Stadium saw Heineken Cup Pool 5 leaders Saracens become the first team to beat Harlequins in their domestic league as they recorded a 19-11 win. But it didn't prove to be the perfect Christmas for the reigning English champions as they were held to a 15-15 draw by Gloucester.
Leicester Tigers warmed-up for their crucial Round 5 Heineken Cup trip to Ulster with successive wins over Worcester Warriors, Sale Sharks and London Wasps to help them climb into the Play-Off places in the Premiership.
The other two unbeaten teams were the Scarlets and ASM Clermont Auvergne, both of who claimed 12 points. The Scarlets host Northampton Saints in a vital Pool 1 match this weekend, while Clermont travel to Aironi Rugby, who picked up two home wins over the Christmas period.
