"These two matches have been good, we have broken the losing streak and whilst we weren't happy with the performance today it was good to get the win," said May.
"We were a little bit lucky but hopefully we can now get some momentum going forward.
"We knew that Connacht, like they did in the game against Harlequins away would come here and throw the ball about and that's exactly what they did.
"We came off second best in a lot of areas and they looked the stronger team out there."
May came off the bench as Gloucester were trailing at Kingsholm but crossed match winning score with five minutes to go and the winger was delighted to get on the score-sheet.
"We looked a little bit conscious of sticking to our structure so it was good to get on the pitch and add a bit more pace," he added.
"I wanted to get on and make an impact and it was great to get the try.
"I came in off my wing and Freddie (Burns) left me a gap and I manage to get the hand off and had the pace to get to the corner."
