Lee Byrne may be the new boy at ASM Clermont Auvergne, but he will be able to give his team mates a few tips about playing at Welford Road ahead of this weekend's Pool 4 return.
The Wales and British & Irish Lions full back has twice played for the Ospreys against the Tigers in the Heineken Cup at Welford Road and picked up a draw and a losing bonus point.
His side's 30-12 triumph at Stade Marcel Michelin on Sunday in Round 3 gave him his second win in four outings against the English giants and he is hoping for a third on Saturday to help the centenary celebrating Clermont consolidate their lead at the top of the Pool.
"It's going to be a tough trip and we need to recover well. They are a quality, well drilled team and they showed that when they scored their first try against us," said Byrne.
"We are happy with the win and to feel disappointed about not scoring four tries against Leicester means we have to be doing something right. Winning was the key thing for us and it means there is all to play for next week."
Byrne joined Clermont in the summer and is hoping to steer them into only their fourth quarter-final in nine seasons. He managed that at the Ospreys but, like his new club, has never gone further.
"The spirit here at Clermont is excellent and the fans are fantastic. Playing in Wales I heard stories that the French don't take the Heineken Cup seriously.
"But being at Clermont I now know how seriously they take it and how much they want to win it. The ambition here is great and, hopefully, we will be pushing for that and the Top 14."
