Wales and British & Irish Lions centre Jamie Roberts has warned his Cardiff Blues team mates to expect Edinburgh Rugby to play like a wounded animal in next weekend's Pool 2 return match.
Roberts helped the Blues take over at the top of the Pool with their third straight win as they beat their Scottish rivals 25-8 at Cardiff City Stadium to make it six wins in a row against them. That turned a one point deficit into a three point lead at the top of the Pool table.
But Roberts is expecting a fierce backlash from the Scottish capital side at Murrayfield in the return match as they battle for the win that would put them back into contention for a quarter-final spot.
"A win was all important for us because home games are vital in Pool matches in the Heineken Cup. Without a doubt it was probably the most important game of our season, but it is only half a job done," said Roberts.
"Winning at home first in the back to back games is one thing, but we have to go away and repeat the job next week. We will face a completely different Edinburgh team at home next week.
"We need to pick ourselves up for next week. They are going to be a different animal and they will be under huge pressure to win - we are expecting a very tough game."
Roberts reckons the Blues will have to work on their attacking play before heading to a venue where Edinburgh beat Racing Metro 48-47 in their last home Heineken Cup encounter.
"It was rather a flat game and we got into a habit of turning quick ball into slow ball, which is not the way we want to do it," admitted Roberts.
"We need to work on our attack a bit. Our defence won us the game because our attack was pretty lacklustre at times and certainly something we need to look at this week."
