Back-to-back games against Munster will show the Scarlets exactly where they are on the European stage according to scrum-half Tavis Knoyle.
The Welsh region top Pool 1 after two Rounds of Heineken Cup action following impressive victories over Castres Olympique and Northampton Saints.
They face back-to-back games against former Champions Munster in Rounds 3 and 4, with the first tie taking place at Parc Y Scarlets on Saturday December 10 and Knoyle believes the matches will be key to Scarlets' season.
"The Munster games are going to be huge for us," said Knoyle.
"Obviously we have started really well in the tournament and we were outstanding against Northampton.
"But these back-to-back games will show us exactly where we are.
"Munster will be a huge test and they have been outstanding in the tournament over the years so we know how tough the matches are going to be.
Knoyle is on International duty with Wales this weekend as they host Australia in Cardiff but is he looking forward to getting back to club action.
"Heineken Cup games are vitally important and as close to International intensity as you can get," he added.
"It's going to be another huge event in Europe and these are games that players and clubs look forward to all season."
