Scarlets fly-half Rhys Priestland praised his side's confidence and style of play after they collected a 28 v 23 victory away to Northampton Saints.
The Wales playmaker contributed a try and four conversions to his side's tally as they claimed an impressive win against last season's Heineken Cup finalists.
The win means the Scarlets sit at the helm of Pool 1 but Priestland was keen to point out that there is still a long way and a lot of work to do in tournament.
"A lot of people had wrote us off before coming up here," he said.
"We knew it would be a massive challenge especially upfront but I think our forwards matched them in every aspect of the game so huge praise has to go to them"
"We were lucky with some of the tries, but we like paying rugby and when we got our nose in front the aim was to put pressure on them and that's what we did.
"We will take five points from Franklin's Gardens any day of the week.
"It was my first start at fly-half in the Heineken Cup so there was extra pressure on me but Stephen (Jones) has been great to me all week - helping out and it went really well."
The Scarlets won many positive reviews for their ambitious and free running style of play in last year's European competition but didn't manage to make it into the knock-out stages,
They have started this season in the same vain and Priestland believes a lot of praise needs to be pointed towards the coaching team.
"I think there is a lot of confidence in the squad and we are very comfortable in the way we want to play," he added.
"A lot of that comes down to the coaches. Nigel (Davies has always said to go for it when its on and he has always backed us as players.
"We are disappointed with the way they came back and disappointed they got a bonus point but we will take five points."
