It's official! Edinburgh's fightback to beat Racing Metro 48-47 in Pool 2 is the biggest in Heineken Cup history.
Their 24 point turnaround with just 17 minutes to go beat Saracens over-turning a 23 point deficit in injury time in the first half at Viadana on 15 December, 2007. It had a 5,000 crowd on their feet in the closing stages and was a victory that hosted Michael Bradley's men to the top of the Pool with nine points.
You have to go back to the 2003/04 season for the last time Edinburgh kicked-off a Pool campaign with successive victories and now Bradley will have to steer his side through back-to-back games against old foes Cardiff Blues to see who will emerge as favourites for the quarter-finals.
"I've never known a rugby match like that. It was a bizarre game but you're not going to see a better one this year - what a treat to be involved in a game like that," said Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley.
"I don't know how many times in the professional era Murrayfield has risen to give the home team a standing ovation at full time. It was a fantastic occasion.
"It must be very difficult for Racing. To come here, score 47 points and lose is just unbelievable - there were parts of their attacking game that were just stunning.
"We were blown off the pitch in the first-half despite scoring 17 points inside 10 minutes. You wonder how you're going to come through that, but the boys stuck to it and I'm so pleased with the character they showed to get back into the game.
"At 17-3 ahead after eight minutes I looked at the scoreboard and thought good. When I looked at half time we were 31-20 down to a Racing side who were fantastic with ball in hand.
"It was a stunning comeback and at one stage that game was lost. It had been nice to see our tries going in then all of a sudden we were blown away.
"Things started to happen for us when we went to Benetton Treviso and beat a team who had won four in a row. We carried that on to London Irish then into this match. Now we have nine points from our opening two games.""
