Four teams were in Amlin Challenge Cup action this evening and we review the two matches.
Pool 5
Sale Sharks 59 v 6 CR La Vila
Sale Sharks bounced back from the disappointment of their defeat in the opening game of their Amlin Challenge Cup with a resounding victory over Spanish champions CR La Vila.
The Premiership side crossed for nine tries with Samoan centre Jonny Leota scoring a hat-trick of tries in their 59-6 win at Edgeley Park to put their European campaign back on track after the defeat in Brive last weekend.
The hosts opening score came courtesy of a penalty try after 16 minutes, which Rob Miller converted to give his side a 7 v 0 lead.
Captain Andy Powell and Andrew Higgins then both touched down in quick succession for the Sharks with Miller adding the extras to Higgins' score.
Nick McCashin grabbed two late first half penalties for the Spanish side to take them into the break 19 v 6 down.
Leota scored the first of his tries just after the break followed by tries from Burrell and then Willis, all of which Miller converted.
Richie Vernon grabbed Sale's seventh try before two Leota tries in the final two minutes wrapped the game up for the English Premiership side.
