Young Edinburgh number 8 Stuart McInally's first Heineken Cup try helped his side claim an impressive 20 v 19 away victory over London Irish at the weekend but the 21-year-old has warned it means nothing unless they back it up this weekend.
The 21-year-old put in a man-of-the match performance against the Exiles in Reading and whilst delighted to come away with an opening victory believes this weekend's clash against Racing Metro is key to Edinburgh's success in the tournament.
"We are really happy with our overall performance and its great to get an away win," said McInally.
"But at the same time we realise that this is only the first of six games in the Heineken Cup, so we have to back it up at home next weekend.
"We knew before the game that it would come down to three or six points and we were disappointed in the first half with our penalty count and I think that's what kept them in the game.
"What was really pleasing was our discipline in the last ten minutes, we didn't give away a decisive penalty which would have given them the victory.
"We need to keep our feet on the ground and back it up next week.
"The feeling in the changing room is that it's only the start and it won't mean much unless we back it up against Racing Metro next week.
"They are a big, physical French side that like to offload and we know they will come right at us."
