The 19-year-old, who has won 15 Wales caps but has only played a dozen first team games for the Scarlets, admits he cannot wait to prove himself in the hurly burly of European rugby.
"I guess it is a bit strange that I have played in the World Cup and Six Nations for Wales but not in the Heineken Cup," said North. "I guess it's not the normal order to do things.
"But as a player you want to test yourself at every level and this is the closest you can come to playing international standard without pulling on the national jersey.
"I was actually a bit nervous before coming off the bench last week (against the Ospreys) but it's great to be back with the boys who I started playing with. It's a great feeling to back home.
North may be making his first bow in European rugby's premier tournament but he is more than aware of the proud history of his side's in the competition and the excitement it generates down West.
"There's a great buzz about playing in the Heineken Cup," said North. "There's a great tradition in the competition for the Scarlets but that's an inspiration to us all."
