Delon Armitage has been banned for five weeks by the RFU, ruling the London Irish star out of the first two rounds of Heineken Cup action.
The England wing / full-back was cited for a dangerous tackle on Bath Rugby's Tom Biggs when the sides met in the English Premiership on October 29.
And at a RFU Disciplinary hearing this evening the panel imposed a five week suspension, which will allow Armitage to return to action on December 9.
At the same hearing he was also suspended for three weeks for striking Dave Attwood with his knee and that suspension will run concurrently with the longer penalty.
The suspension rules Armitage out of London Irish's Heineken Cup games against Edinburgh on Saturday and away to Cardiff Blues the following week.
