Ulster scrum-half Ruan Pienaar has been ruled about for between 4 to 6 weeks after picking up a hamstring injury in training.
Pienaar, who only made his first appearance of the season for the Province last weekend against the Scarlets after returning from the World Cup will miss Ulster's Heineken Cup matches against ASM Clermont Auvergne and Leicester Tigers and could be a doubt for Rounds 3 and 4 in December.
The 26-year-old played in all seven of Ulster's European games last year in his debut season in the Northern Hemisphere and he helped his side to the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup for the first time since 1999.
Paul Marshall, who started the opening six games for Ulster in Pienaar's absence will replace the South African this weekend and will battle it out against Ian Porter for a starting berth in the Heineken Cup.
In further news, Ulster have confirmed that Stefan Terblanche will join the club on a 3 month contract.
Terblanche has been recruited to cover for Jared Payne who ruptured his achilles against Benetton Treviso last month.
The 36-year-old former Ospreys back made his final appearance for the Natal Sharks in last Saturday's Currie Cup Final against the Golden Lions in Johannesburg.
