The 17th Heineken Cup final will be played at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday, 19 May, 2012.
Derek McGrath, the ERC Chief Executive, announced today (Monday, 31 October) that for the fifth successive season European club rugby's showpiece match would be played on a Saturday.
The date was revealed at the UK launch of the 2011 / 2012 tournament at Twickenham and it was also announced that over 16,500 tickets had been snapped up for the match over six months ahead of the final returning to Twickenham Stadium for the fourth time.
The previous three finals have all been won by English clubs - Northampton Saints in 2000 and London Wasps in 2004 and 2007 - and there will be seven Premiership sides bidding to maintain that trend in late May.
It was also confirmed as per last season the final of the Amlin Challenge Cup will also be played in London on the same weekend of 18/19/20 May.
