Gloucester Rugby have announced that Luke Narraway will captain the side for the 2011/12 season.
The 28-year-old led the Cherry and Whites for large parts of last season when club captain Mike Tindall was absent from the match-day squad and it was Narraway who lifted the LV = Cup for Gloucester following their victory over Newcastle Falcons in the final at Franklin's Gardens last season.
The 2006 Amlin Challenge Cup winners return to the Heineken Cup this season and will face Toulouse, Harlequins and Connacht in Pool 6 of the competition.
"To be given the role is a huge honour. I've been at the club for many years now, and in that time I have played under a number of great leaders," he said.
"And in the history of the club there have been a huge number of illustrious captains. So to join those ranks is an absolute privilege.
"Very few men are handed the privilege of being club captain at a club like Gloucester, and I will give it everything I have to make sure I don't let anyone down."
