London Wasps back-row Tom Rees suffered an ACL rupture in a pre-season game against Agen. He has had surgery on the knee injury and is expected to be out of the game for six to nine months.
London Wasps Director of Rugby, Dai Young, said: "The injury is a huge blow for Tom and everyone at Wasps. We all saw how incredibly hard Tom worked to get back to full fitness from last season's injury so this is desperately disappointing. As Director of Rugby, Tom was someone I had earmarked to have a major impact this season both on and off the pitch and he will be sorely missed. We all wish him the best in his recovery."
Former England international Rees will now miss the pool stages of London Wasps' Amlin Challenge Cup campaign. Wasps begin their challenge with an away game in Pool 3 against Bordeaux-Begles on Saturday, 12 November.
