Newcastle Falcons have signed Samoan International Taiasina Tu'ifua ahead of the 2011/12 season.
Tu'ifua, 26, made his test debut for Samoa during this summer's Pacific Nations tournament and was instrumental in helping his nation claim a memorable 32-23 scalp over Australia in Sydney's Olympic Stadium, last month.
And Newcastle Falcons head coach Alan Tait is delighted to capture the 6ft6' flanker, who has been playing his club rugby for Counties Manukau, in New Zealand.
"I'm absolutely ecstatic that he has decided to sign for us. We have been holding out to find this sort of player and we have finally got our man," said Tait.
"He's a big man, a good ball carrier and will give us so many dimensions to our set-up. He was a big part of the Samoan team which conquered Australia a fortnight ago and I am delighted that we held out for him."
Newcastle begin their 2011/12 European campaign by welcoming Lyon to Kingston Park in Round One of the Amlin Challenge Cup, before ties against Petrarca Padova and Toulon.
