Former England centre Jamie Noon may have been on the losing side for Brive in their Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final defeat to Munster but he believes the game was a fantastic showpiece for the tournament.
Munster edged the victory 42 v 37 but Brive made the former European Champions work for the full eighty minutes in thrilling game and Noon believes the Irish side can now push on and win the title.
"Obviously I am disappointed as we have just lost a quarter-final and to come so close and lose is hard but it was truly a fantastic game," he said.
"We knew it was going to be a massive fixture, Munster are European giants and we didn't help ourselves by not starting well.
"Munster showed their class and in the opening ten minutes we were chasing shadows out there.
"But you have to give us credit, we stepped up and fought our way back in and caused them a whole load of problems.
"We were clear a few times but just couldn't finish which was frustrating.
"We have been battling hard in the French league the last couple of weeks, so to come out and play in a match like this really suited us.
"We were relaxed and could play some real rugby.
"It was a great game to play in and a fantastic fixture for the Amlin tournament. It showed what a high level the competition is and showed the best of French and Irish rugby.
"Munster are class and they have the firepower and the experience to go all the way and win the competition."
