Clermont Auvergne will be without French prop Thomas Domingo for their Amlin Challenge Cup quarter-final against La Rochelle after he was ruled out for the season with a knee injury.
The 25-year-old suffered ligament damage to his knee whilst playing for Clermont in their Top 14 41 v 13 victory over Biarritz on Saturday.
Domingo played in five of his side's Heineken Cup Pool games this season and scored a try against Racing Metro but now faces a race against time to make the Rugby World Cup later this year.
"His season with ASM Clermont Auvergne is now over and his chances of competing in the World Cup are severely compromised," a statement from Clermont.
Domingo underwent further medical scans on the weekend and faces an operations later this week.
Clermont Auvergne face compatriots La Rochelle in the last eight of the Amlin Challenge Cup on Thursday.
