"To know that early in the season you're going to play Heineken Cup rugby next year, it's a big thing for the club," said Azam.
"We can prepare for it and be ready, because it's going to be a big ask for quite a young squad next season to play in that competition.
"But I think Gloucester belong in the Heineken Cup. It was such a miss this year that I can't wait to see the big crowds again at Kingsholm and for those great European evenings to return."
It was third time lucky for the West Country side, who were defeated at the same stage of the tournament in the past two years but determination not to suffer the same fate saw them homeon this occasion.
"We've been hurt a lot by the two losses of the previous years and, fair play to the boys, we got back on the horse and fought to put ourselves in the position to go for third time lucky," he added.
"We were determined not to let it go, and it's passion that drove us home.
"This win is for Tom Walkinshaw, but it's for everybody who works so hard at the club.
"When we win, it's for everybody, and we just hope they enjoy it.
"When we lose everyone's sad, and that's the way it's always been at Gloucester. It's a club with so much passion and that's why I've been here for ten years, because it's a special place.
"When we walked into the stadium we had hundreds of people waiting for us to get off the bus: it's a great feeling and you want to give it back."
